San Jose is set to become the ultimate destination for soccer enthusiasts this summer, as the city gears up to host vibrant viewing parties for both the highly anticipated Copa América 2024 and UEFA EURO 2024 tournaments. This initiative, a collaboration between the San Jose Earthquakes, the City of San José, and the San Jose Sports Authority, promises a thrilling “Summer of Soccer” for fans across Northern California.
Building on San Jose’s growing reputation as a soccer epicenter – highlighted by the presence of the Earthquakes and Bay FC, and with the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup – these viewing parties offer a fantastic opportunity to experience world-class international soccer. From the opening matches to the grand finales, soccer fans will find themselves immersed in the excitement of these prestigious continental competitions.
The Copa América 2024, featuring top national teams from the Americas, kicks off on Thursday, June 20, culminating in the final on Sunday, July 14. Simultaneously, UEFA EURO 2024, showcasing Europe’s best, starts on Friday, June 14, also concluding with its final match on Sunday, July 14. To ensure fans don’t miss any of the action, viewing parties will be held for all matches starting at 9 a.m. PT or later.
The Old Wagon Saloon & Grill and O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub, both located on the newly pedestrianized N. San Pedro Street, will serve as prime locations for many of these viewing events. For a comprehensive schedule of all viewing parties, fans can click here.
For select marquee matchups, the viewing experience will be elevated to a festival-like atmosphere at San Pedro Square. An impressive oversized outdoor screen and speaker system will transform N. San Pedro Street into a lively hub for soccer fans. Conveniently located near the VTA Santa Clara light rail station and offering access to five nearby Downtown parking garages with 90 minutes of free parking (availability updated in real-time on parksj.org), San Pedro Square is easily accessible for everyone.
Adding to the city-wide soccer celebration, the Mexican Heritage Plaza will host a special big-screen outdoor viewing party on Wednesday, June 26, for the highly anticipated México vs. Venezuela Copa América match. Furthermore, PayPal Park, the home of the San Jose Earthquakes, will open its doors to host the final matches of both tournaments, providing an unforgettable setting to witness the crowning of the Copa América and Euro Cup champions.
