The initial announcement of the Pope’s charitable act occurred on January 30th during a memorial gathering for Don Roberto Sardelli, held at the Roman parish of San Policarpo. While the Pope’s contribution was acknowledged at the time, the specific amount of the donation – a considerable one million euros – was disclosed more recently. This figure was revealed in a letter from Cardinal Baldassare Reina, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome, addressed to the priests of the Diocese, bringing greater clarity to the scale of the Pope’s commitment.
