Need to Convert Currency To Euro? The European Commission provides an official, reliable currency converter tool designed to give you the most accurate monthly accounting rates. This converter is based on rates established by the Accounting Officer of the European Commission, adhering to article 19 of the Financial Regulation.
This tool was initially created to calculate reimbursements for expenses, travel, and subsistence costs for individuals participating in European Commission meetings and interviews. However, it’s also available for general users who need to convert currency to euro and access monthly conversion rates dating back to 1994.
The exchange rates provided are market rates from the second to last day of the preceding month. These rates are sourced from the European Central Bank, ensuring accuracy and reliability. In cases where ECB data isn’t available, rates are obtained from delegations or other reputable sources close to that date.
InforEuro offers rates for both current and historical currencies, covering countries within and outside the European Union. For every currency, the converter provides historical conversion rates against the euro, and prior to December 1998, against the ecu. These historical exchange rates are accessible in downloadable electronic files dating back to March 1994.
It is important to note that the information provided by this converter is strictly for informational purposes, specifically for the implementation of the EU budget. While the European Commission strives for accuracy, no warranty is given regarding the precision of the published rates. The European Commission does not accept any responsibility for actions taken based on these rates. This tool is for informational purposes only and does not grant users any rights. General public inquiries will not be addressed.
