Euro Currencies: Daily Exchange Reference Rates and Updates

Understanding the fluctuations in currency exchange rates is crucial in today’s global economy. The European Central Bank (ECB) provides daily euro foreign exchange reference rates, a vital resource for businesses, travelers, and anyone monitoring international finance. These rates are updated every working day at approximately 16:00 CET, except on TARGET closing days.

The reference rates are calculated based on a daily concertation procedure among European central banks, typically around 14:10 CET. It’s important to note that these rates are published purely for informational purposes. While they offer a valuable snapshot of currency values, their use for transactional purposes is strongly discouraged due to potential market variations throughout the day.

Important Note: EUR/RUB Rate Suspension

Due to ongoing market volatility in the EUR/RUB market, the ECB has temporarily suspended the publication of the euro reference rate for the Russian rouble. This is because current trading activity does not allow for the setting of a reference rate that accurately reflects real market conditions. The suspension has been in effect since March 1, 2022, and will continue until further notice.
