The Euro 2024 group stage concluded on Wednesday with thrilling matches in Groups E and F, finalizing the last five teams advancing to the Round of 16. Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Turkey, and Georgia secured their spots, joining Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, England, Denmark, Slovenia, Austria, France, and the Netherlands, who had already qualified from Groups A, B, C, and D. Portugal also played, having already guaranteed their top spot.
Group E presented a unique scenario where all teams finished with four points. After Ukraine’s 0-0 draw with Belgium and Slovakia’s 1-1 tie with Romania, decided by goals from Ondrej Duda and Razvan Marin, goal difference became the deciding factor. The final standings for Group E were: Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, and Ukraine. Notably, Ukraine made history as the first team to be eliminated from a European Championship with four points. However, Romania, Belgium, and Slovakia continue their journey in the tournament.
