Euro 2024 Standings: Group Stage Results and Knockout Qualification

The Euro 2024 group stage concluded on Wednesday with thrilling matches in Groups E and F, finalizing the last five teams advancing to the Round of 16. Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Turkey, and Georgia secured their spots, joining Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, England, Denmark, Slovenia, Austria, France, and the Netherlands, who had already qualified from Groups A, B, C, and D. Portugal also played, having already guaranteed their top spot.

Group E presented a unique scenario where all teams finished with four points. After Ukraine’s 0-0 draw with Belgium and Slovakia’s 1-1 tie with Romania, decided by goals from Ondrej Duda and Razvan Marin, goal difference became the deciding factor. The final standings for Group E were: Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, and Ukraine. Notably, Ukraine made history as the first team to be eliminated from a European Championship with four points. However, Romania, Belgium, and Slovakia continue their journey in the tournament.

In Group F, Portugal, already assured of first place, faced a 2-0 defeat against Georgia, with goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze. This victory propelled Georgia to third place, qualifying them for the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams. In the other Group F match, Turkey defeated Czech Republic 2-1, with goals from Hakan Calhanoglu and Cenk Tosun in the 94th minute. Tomas Soucek scored the temporary equalizer for the Czechs. Turkey finished as Group F runners-up, level on points with Portugal but placed second due to their head-to-head result.

Alongside Ukraine and Czech Republic, Hungary also exited the tournament, missing out on a best third-place spot. Scotland, Albania, Serbia, Croatia, and Poland are the other teams eliminated from Euro 2024.
