KONEKTIS: The Official Match Ball for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 Unveiled

As the excitement builds for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, with the tournament draw imminent and just six months away, adidas has revealed KONEKTIS, the Official Match Ball. The name KONEKTIS, derived from the Esperanto word for ‘connected’, perfectly encapsulates the tournament’s aim to unite fans across the eight host cities, emphasizing the close proximity and accessibility of each location. This signifies a unique opportunity for widespread fan engagement throughout the Women’s Euro competition.

The KONEKTIS ball boasts a visually striking design deeply inspired by the breathtaking landscapes and iconic architecture of Switzerland, the host nation. Against a pearlescent backdrop, bold and vibrant jagged-edged block patterns in red, blue, purple, orange, and green are featured, directly mirroring the majestic silhouette of the Swiss Alps that dominate the country’s topography.

Furthermore, each panel of the KONEKTIS ball is uniquely adorned with bespoke graphics representing famous landmarks from each of the eight host cities of the Women’s Euro. These include recognizable sites such as Basel City Hall, the iconic Bern Clock Tower, Geneva’s impressive Water Jet, Lucerne’s Chapel Bridge, the grand St. Gallen Cathedral, Tourbillon Castle in Sion, the historic Thun Castle, and Münsterbrücke. This intricate detailing not only celebrates Swiss culture but also offers a visual journey through the host cities for fans and players alike.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the KONEKTIS Official Match Ball is engineered for peak performance. It incorporates PRECISIONSHELL technology, characterized by a 20-piece panel shape featuring strategically placed debossed grooves on the outer shell. This design is the result of rigorous lab and on-pitch testing, meticulously crafted to optimize airflow around the ball, leading to superior accuracy and control during play in the Women’s Euro matches.

Beneath the surface, CTR-CORE technology further enhances performance. This innovative system is designed to ensure maximum accuracy and consistent flight, crucial for the fast-paced and precise nature of women’s football. CTR-CORE helps the ball maintain its shape and air retention, directly supporting consistent performance throughout the high-stakes games of the Women’s Euro 2025 tournament.

In a groundbreaking move for the UEFA Women’s European Championship, KONEKTIS integrates CONNECTED BALL TECHNOLOGY. This marks the first time this advanced technology will be used in the Women’s Euro. A sophisticated suspension system within the ball houses a 500Hz inertial measurement unit (IMU) motion sensor. This sensor provides unprecedented real-time data on every aspect of the ball’s movement. Powered by a rechargeable battery with inductive charging, the technology offers continuous monitoring throughout matches.

The integration of adidas Connected Ball Technology provides video match officials with precise ball data instantly. Combined with player positioning data and advanced artificial intelligence, this cutting-edge system significantly aids officials in making faster and more accurate decisions during Women’s Euro 2025 games. Developed in collaboration with Kinexon, this technology is particularly beneficial for VAR officials, allowing for quicker resolution of handball and penalty incidents by precisely identifying every touch of the ball, ensuring fair play and minimizing interruptions.

Solène Störmann, Global Category Director, Football Hardware at adidas, emphasized the significance of the ball: “We’re incredibly proud to provide the official match balls for such a prestigious competition as the Women’s Euro. KONEKTIS, meaning ‘connected’, embodies our aim to unite players and fans with the host nation through the universal language of football. Introducing adidas Connected Ball Technology for the first time at the UEFA Women’s EURO underscores our dedication to innovation and continuous improvement, ultimately enhancing the sporting experience for everyone involved in women’s football.”

Nadine Kessler, UEFA Managing Director, Women’s Football, echoed this sentiment: “UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is set to further propel the remarkable growth of women’s football, offering a deeply connected tournament experience. KONEKTIS perfectly captures this spirit, and the debut of adidas Connected Ball Technology on the pitch at a Women’s EURO is a landmark moment. It reflects our shared commitment to pushing boundaries and achieving excellence in every facet of this tournament.”

To celebrate the launch of KONEKTIS, adidas organized a special training session with national team captain Lia Wälti at the Ottmar Hitzfeld Arena in Gspon. This unique location, nestled high in the Swiss Alps at 2,000 meters above sea level, is Europe’s highest football pitch, offering a symbolic backdrop for Lia to contemplate competing in her home nation during the Women’s Euro. A launch video capturing this event is available on adidas social media channels @adidasfootball.

Lia Wälti, Arsenal midfielder and captain of the national team, shared her personal connection to the event: “Switzerland represents home, family, and peace to me. Hosting a tournament in my own country is incredibly meaningful. It’s a dream I hadn’t even imagined as a child, and the opportunity to play in front of my family, friends, and our fans at the Women’s Euro is truly wonderful.”

The KONEKTIS Official Match Ball reinforces adidas’ commitment to social responsibility, with 1% of net sales contributing to Common Goal. This initiative supports programs driving lasting social change in underserved communities, fostering a more inclusive and equitable future through football.

Priced at €150, the retail version of the KONEKTIS Official Match Ball is available for purchase now at adidas retail stores, select retailers, and online at Soccer Balls. It’s important to note that the version of the Official Match Ball featuring Connected Ball Technology is exclusively for tournament use and will not be available for retail purchase, highlighting its unique and advanced application in the Women’s Euro 2025.
